Most of the patriarchal societies of the world have distinct roles and responsibilities for men and women. Our society considers freedom, boldness, determination, courage, rationality etc. as the masculine characteristics. On the other hand, the society considers sensitiveness, shyness and dependence on males as the attributes of the females. Thus, the role of the male plays in the society is that of a powerful, leading and forward person in each and every matter. Injustice and atrocities are still prevalent against the females of our society. The attitude of our society towards the female is still that of a subordinate of the men. As a result of it, the society expects woman to be the helper of men, caretaker of kitchen and children and is less important tasks.

Such tendency is being improved by the changes, brought by the development of science and technology in recent years. The women are becoming conscious. They are getting involved in the skill oriented trainings and income generating activities. They are getting organized in campaigns, which advocate against exploitation, injustice, inequality, legal discrimination and so on. They have raised their voice for the reproductive right, gender equality, and inequality in wages for the same task and so on.

The family cannot gain perfection and progress remains incomplete until the equality between men and women is attained in behavior. Regarding this fact, the society should take the gender equality into consideration. Many obstacles are encountered in maintaining balance in population growth. It is because of discrimination between male and female. In the attempts made to control gender inequality, the participation and responsibility of males and females should be equal. Such co-operation helps a lot to make quality of life by increasing the number of able and efficient manpower. Educated males and females are self-dependent. They have creative genius. They think and take decision rationally and in a creative manner. Thus, male and female have the equal role to make decision concerning population. Until there is a joint effort, population growth cannot be controlled. The responsible male and female not only understand the problems emerging due to the population growth but they also become ready to control such problems.

The children are motivated to go to school for education through the participation of women and men. If both men and women are educated, the tendency of the late marriage causes late birth of child, which controls the population. The creative and positive decisions made by educated men and women also improve the social status.

The children are grown up in loving environment by the responsible parents. Responsible parents become policy makers, leaders, exemplars, educators and inspirers to their children. Giving birth to children is not enough. It is the responsibility of parents to respond to the health and nutrition needs of their offspring. Every child has the right to balanced diet, adequate clothing, sufficient shelter, proper medical attention and all the basic physical requirements of a healthy and the splendid life.

Both men and women have a great role to maintain balance between production and population growth. If the balance between production and population is maintained, each member of the country becomes able to consume his/her rightful share of the means and resources of the nation. Nation becomes wealthy and prosperous. The responsibility and participation of men and women make the society educated. Education can be disseminated throughout the nation. If the status of society get improved, it helps to control the population growth.

The responsibility and participation of men and women play great role in fulfilling the social and economic needs like food, employment, education etc. Both men and women can make decision about the number of children they want to have. The participation of both man and woman is required in making decision about birth spacing by using various means of family planning. The responsibility of leading a family not only lies on make but the female members of the society are equally capable of doing so. Responsible males and females fully recognize their duties and responsibilities towards themselves, towards children and community. Responsible men and women want to have a family free from hunger and insecurity. They plan the number of children and they are capable of supporting and rearing to full maturity within their reasonable capacity. If there is equal participation of men and women in different affairs of the family, naturally they are able to become responsible men and women who can shoulder their responsibilities towards themselves, their spouse, children and their community without much difficulty.
